Where to Place Your LCD TV
You're going to want to hang your LCD television in a spot not directly opposite of large windows or doors, so you don't have to worry about the glare of sunlight falling directly across your TV LCD televisions do better in brightly-lit rooms than either Plasma or CRT televisions, however, any source of bright light shining directly into any television will detract from your viewing experience.
You'll also want to consider enough clearance for your LCD TV Consider your wall and floor area for twice the screen width of the TV, in order to allow for speaker set up and any decorative elements to augment the aesthetics without detracting from the screen itself.
Finally, give yourself 2- to 3-times the width of your LCD HDTV as the distance at which to set up your seating. This will give you enough room to sit back and enjoy your television without getting a headache due to being too close or too far away.
Where to Set Your TV Mount
Once you have an idea of where you want to hang your LCD televison, you're going to want to figure out where to set up the mount. Ideally, your TV would hang right at eye level when sitting. This will reduce neck and eye strain when viewing. This, however may seem a bit low for wall mounting. As long as you keep the bottom of the screen at no higher than eye level when seated, and the top of the screen at no higher than eye level when standing, your TV should be in a good viewing range.
Some Precautions
Always make sure the mount is perfectly level, as a botched job is hard to fix later and can damage both the mount and, ultimately, the TV
Always follow the mounting directions exactly, and make sure you double check your measurements before getting started.
Check for any electronic cable or wiring before starting by purchasing an inexpensive electricity cable locator at a hardware store.
If installing into drywall, make sure to screw the LCD mount into a stud, to maximize stability.
While LCD televisions aren't overly heavy, find someone to help you with the installation process. Your LCD will have a much better picture when it hasn't first been dropped on the floor.
By keeping these guidelines in mind, you're sure to have a successful installation and enjoy your LCD television for years to come.
