Knowing your television screen size is one of the most important determining factors in shopping for a tv mount.
A mount that is too large may not properly fit your television, or make it unsafe by being unstable. Likewise, a mount that is too small may not be able to support the weight or size of your television, making it prone to damage to the mount and/or the television itself. Luckily, most television mounts are listed with a range of screen sizes and weights appropriate for that particular mount.
Measuring your TV screen size is easy; simply take a tape measure and measure, in inches, the size of your screen diagonally (from top right to bottom left or top left to bottom right.) Most CRT televisions top out at about 40 inches in screen size, as any larger would make them so bulky and heavy that they would be impractical.
Likewise, LCD screens much larger than 37 inches are hard to find, as any larger screen can produce a display with a bad transistor. Plasma and projection televisions, on the other hand, really have no limit to screen size, many as big as 60 inches or better.
